The debut full length LP by Tikiyaki & the Hawaiiana Brass, Weekend in Waikiki” is a fresh chapter in the Tikiyaki sound — where classic exotica meets vibrant, brass-driven 1960’s lounge and AM Radio Pop.
The Hawaiiana Brass takes the Tikiyaki sound into a super-fun, groovy, mid-60s post-exotica sound, inspired by Herb Alpert, Henry Mancini and TV, film theme and soundtrack music of the era. With a 3-piece horn section taking the lead, the sound is fun, swingin’, upbeat, and, at times, regal.
Think of your favorite TV show themes, add a little exotica flavor and a whole lot of upbeat mid-century pop into the mix, and you get the idea.
